Found August 07, 2013 on The 6th Sens:
With reports indicating that former captain Daniel Alfredsson is back in town skating at the Sensplex, it was appropriate for Jason Spezza to make a radio appearance to kickstart his candidacy for the Sens vacant captaincy.  Spezza for captain in 2013/14 whoo!  Fortunately, with the emerging popularity of bloggers transcribing radio interviews, it means one thing: Spezza speaks, Lund translates and I can pillage most of the content while adding in my own commentary. If you want to listen to the interview itself, you can check out the Team 1200's Facebook page or stream it at the bottom of the post. As always, my thoughts are in bold. On Alfie's departure... “Alfie called me the day before free agency and we talked, we had a good talk. I was really surprised — I think as anybody was — to hear that he was going to move on. I respect his decision as a player and I think he wants to have a chance to win and he wanted to go somewhere else and kind of see...

Jason Spezza feels ready for Ottawa captaincy

In his first interview since Daniel Alfredsson left the Senators centre Jason Spezza talks about the future captaincy and life without Alfie. How’s your summer been? It’s been really good. Lots of family time we’ve been here in Etobicoke the whole time. Got away for a little bit. My parents pretty much live right down the street we can walk over every day and hang out. My...

Travis Yost: El Capitan?

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- Is Ottawa's next captain Jason Spezza? The guys at Senators Extra kindly transcribed Jason Spezza's interview with the Team 1200, which included a flurry of questions about him potentially assuming the position of team captain after the loss of Daniel Alfredsson to Detroit. Q: What would it mean to you to be the next captain of...

Travis Yost: Jared Cowen: Travis Hamonic, He is Not

Make sure to follow Travis on Twitter! -- From the Ottawa Sun on Tuesday: While there was talk on the weekend, sources say the 22-year-old Cowen and the team aren’t close to a deal, and more work is needed in order to get a contract in place before training camp opens Sept. 11. If it’s a long-term deal, some believe Cowen’s camp would like something close to...

Daniel Alfredsson’s in Ottawa…for now…

Oh, this should be interesting, per RedWingsFeed as the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch continues to block me on Twitter... Daniel Alfredsson is back in town. Was at Sensplex earlier today. #Sens — Bruce Garrioch (@SunGarrioch) August 6, 2013 Daniel Alfredsson may hold a news conference while he is in Ottawa to get all the questions out of the way at once...

Garrioch suggests that Daniel Alfredsson needs to clear the air

This is one of those "tiptoeing through a minefield" topics that makes me cringe to talk about, but...The Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch noted that a certain Mr. Daniel Alfredsson was at the Ottawa Senators' practice facility today, and it's likely that Alfredsson's returned to North America to find an abode in Metro Detroit and schooling for his sons in Metro...

Daniel Alfredsson Decision and the Three Schools of Thought

It’s been approximately one month since Daniel Alfredsson made the decision to bolt the Ottawa Senators for the division rival Red Wings and in these four weeks, Sens fans have invested a lot of time and energy into figuring out why their beloved captain packed up and left for a better opportunity to win a Stanley Cup. During this time, there’s been ample opportunity to come...
