At this time last year I was sitting in the same seat that I'm sitting in now. Instead of wearing a black t-shirt, I was wearing my Tuukka Rask Winter Classic jersey. Instead of wearing my 2011 Stanley Cup Champions hat that I think I've worn for 365 days straight, I wore a black Bruins hat. Instead of a neatly trimmed goatee, I had a mammoth beard the color of the sun. Instead of calmly typing a blog post, I was nervously telling the people of Boston to party like champions tonight, win or lose. It's incredible to think about what can happen in a year. Today at 4:30, I'll be going to pick up my 10 month old daughter. Last year at 4:30, I was on my way to Boston to meet up with Justin, Pizz and Jon. At 10:30 tonight I'll be a couple beers deep and probably chainsawing Locust in half. Last year at 10:30, I was in Boston Beer Works on the edge of my seat as the clock ticked down to zeros and the Boston Bruins were crowned 2011 Stanley Cup Champions. People poured i...

Tuukka Rask Ready to Handle Bigger Role for Bruins in Tim Thomas' Absence (Video)

Tim Thomas assertion that he's prepared to sit out the 2012-13 season has brought plenty of questions on the future of the Bruins in net. Tuukka Rask still appears to be the likely heir apparent in goal, and it looks like this is the perfect time for the young netminder to claim his place upon the iron throne. Other big questions heading into the offseason are the health of forward...

Gregory Campbell Passes Up Shot at Bigger Role Elsewhere, Keeps Bruins Fourth Line One of Best in NHL

Gregory Campbell could have gotten a chance to play a bigger role elsewhere. Probably could have earned a bigger paycheck, too. But the veteran center knows he's got a pretty good thing here in Boston, and he was more than happy to sign on for another three years with the Bruins. "You know, there are a lot of considerations when you're in this situation," Campbell...

Dougie Hamilton Expected to Crack Top Six Defensemen for Bruins Next Season

Bruins' general manager Peter Chiarelli has had a busy offseason so far. And it's not about to stop anytime soon. Chiarelli just re-signed centers Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell this week, following the re-signing of forward Daniel Paille. With Tim Thomas still committed to sitting out the season, the Bruins must now look to re-sign goalie Tuukka Rask as the primary netminder...

Lavoie's 'Kelly contract rejected' tweet all smoke

File under: WTF?Renaud Lavoie of RDS is reporting Chris Kelly's contract has being rejected by the NHL. NHL reject Bruins Chris Kelly 4 years / 12 million contract. Cap issues for the Bruins right now. — Renaud P Lavoie (@RenLavoieRDS) June 14, 2012 This makes no ******* sense since Chiarelli said the Bruins and Kelly have just agreed to the new contract in principle and...

Chris Kelly signed then not signed, wait until July 1st

Earlier today, Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli officially announced that he had signed both forwards Gregory Campbell and Chris Kelly. The Campbell signing went through without a hitch, but when Kelly’s contract was filed with the league, it was rejected. What? Peter Chiarelli addressed Kelly contract earlier today. He said he can’t make deal official until July 1 due to â€...

Bruins Happy to Keep Chris Kelly in Boston, But Deal Can't Be Finalized Until July 1

The Bruins have succeeded in keeping two more key members of their 2011 Stanley Cup-winning roster from hitting the open market. Well, almost. On Wednesday, the Bruins officially announced the signing of center Gregory Campbell to a new three-year, $4.8 million deal through the 2014-15 season. They also announced an "agreement in principle" to sign center Chris Kelly to...

Bruins Probably Won't Trade David Krejci to Join Intense Zach Parise Bidding War and Other NHL Thoughts

The Bruins continued to put the pieces of next season's roster together this past week, and the picture taking shape from that puzzle is a familiar one. Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell reached deals on new contracts to stay in Boston, and Campbell even got to sign his. Kelly will have to wait until July 1 due to some salary cap complications, but will remain in Black and Gold...

Tyler Seguin Staying at Wing Remains Best Course for Bruins After Solidifying Strength Down Middle

The Bruins maintained their depth down the middle with the re-signings of centers Chris Kelly and Gregory Campbell, but those moves will also keep another key Bruin from making a move to the middle, at least for the foreseeable future. With David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron already locked in as the centers of the top two lines and now Kelly and Campbell back to center the third and...

Vote: Which Bruins Offseason Storyline Are You Following Most Closely?

The offseason is supposed to be a relatively quiet time where, aside from the small number of blockbuster trades or free agent signings across the league, most teams are just dealing with filling out the back ends of their rosters. Well, scratch that idea for the Bruins. Tim Thomas and his ever-shifting personality made sure that this offseason would be anything but typical for Boston...
