ST. LOUIS -- T.J. Oshie and Brenden Morrow participated in the St. Louis Blues' optional skate, a positive step for a franchise hit hard by injuries during a late slide in the regular season. Three other regulars weren't ready Tuesday -- captain David Backes and forwards Patrik Berglund and Vladimir Sobotka. Coach Ken Hitchcock says the true test for any of them will come in a full-go practice Wednesday, a day ahead of their playoff opener against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks. But he says what he's seen so far keeps him confident they'll be at full strength at some point during the series. The Blackhawks got their two biggest stars, forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, back on the ice Monday.

T.J. Oshie Shows Off Shootout Skills In Enterprise Ad (Video)

Fans of Team USA hockey know by now that T.J. Oshie is a shootout master, and the St. Louis Blues forward shows off his accuracy in a new ad for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The scene is set with Oshie taking shots on net all alone on the ice when an Enterprise employee arrives to pick the forward up. Oshie then asks the employee for some “help” standing in as goaltender so Oshie can...

TJ Oshie’s New Enterprise Commercial Features A Funny Disclaimer

After his ridiculous shootout performance against Russia in Sochi this Winter, it’s about time that a company has called upon TJ Oshie to show off his skills in a new commercial. Enterprise, the official car rental company of the NHL, has stepped up to be that company. And while the commercial itself isn’t really that great, the disclaimer it provides made me laugh: Question...

Playoffs approaching, Blues need goalie to step up

ST. LOUIS -- Exactly as advertised, Ryan Miller came to the St. Louis Blues and the goals-against number went down. Until the Blues started losing bodies. They're hoping to get everyone on a lengthy injury list back sometime in the first round of the playoffs against the rival Chicago Blackhawks, and help Miller again be the cool, calm save machine they assumed they'd acquired...

Featuring a giant novelty switch that will be pushed from OFF to ON by every member of the team, the event is designed to build community support as the team attempts to suddenly be good at hockey again for the postseason. “We haven’t played good...

Blackhawks vs. Blues: This Rivalry Never Gets Old

Tomorrow is going to probably be the most exciting day in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in a long time. You have all four games being big time rivalry games. However, I think most eyes will be on the battle of Central Division rivals in Chicago and St. Louis.Chicago, the more offensively flavored team, looks to keep this a high flying, wide open style of game to highlight their great...

NHL Playoffs Simulation - Chicago Blackhawks vs St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues finished the regular season with 111 points and allowed the 3rd fewest goals (191).  The Chicago Blackhawks finished the regular season with 107 points, and led the NHL in goals scored (267).  Our simulation has this game going the distance and the Blues tying the game early in the 3rd period, before the Blackhawks score the series clinching goal with less than...

Hitchcock says every injured player will play in the first round

Are you worried about all of the injuries on the St. Louis roster? Maybe you shouldn’t be. While it’s unclear who will return and when, it’s pretty interesting seeing Hitchcock make such a bold statement. It’s a telling comment, but it leaves him a bit of wiggle room. Hitch says that every injured #stlblues would play before the first-round series is over. — Jeremy Rutherford...

Blues ratings on Fox Sports Midwest hit new all-time high

The St. Louis Blues had some attendance woes during the 2013-14 season, but one area they thrived in was television. Fox Sports Midwest reports that the Blues had their highest all-time ratings in 2013-14. The Blues averaged a 4.0 according to Nielsen, besting the previous high (3.9) during the abbreviated season last year. The Blues’ local-market ratings ranked 5th in the entire...

St. Louis Blues vs Chicago Blackhawks: Stanley Cup 2014 first-round preview

This was supposed to be a conference final series under the old system. Furthermore, the Blackhawks vs the Blues was supposed to be a second-round series under the new NHL realignment system. But somehow, out of nowhere, the Colorado Avalanche…Read more →The post St. Louis Blues vs Chicago Blackhawks: Stanley Cup 2014 first-round preview appeared first on The Hockey Daily.

Blues-Blackhawks: Meet me in St. LouBARF

The Chicago Blackhawks start their Stanley Cup Championship defense against America’s Sweethearts: the St. Louis Blues.  The drive down I-55 is enough to hate this match-up, but the (lack of) respect shown by the Blues for opponents is unmatched in the NHL, and Chicago is aware of that. Patrick Kane was injured in a 4-0 win over the Bloos (that’s spelled correctly) in March...

Mural Hockey Art: Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues

I came across some unique hockey art on Reddit today that was posted by user: GuyOnTheLake. See the full album here. He made murals of all the Western Conference match-ups for the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues version of the mural (above) is my favourite!
