For the first time since the '80's, the Washington, DC area has a legitimate superstar to be proud of. After leading the Caps into the playoffs, Alexander Ovechkin is expected to win his first Hart Trophy as MVP of the NHL. The mere fact that he is in the discussion is a triumph for Washington professional sports. If you can't remember the last time Washington was the best at something, it's because it's been a while. Rubbing the salt into that wound, Baltimore has been much more successful.

  • and Mike Richards ends those hopes

  • and Down Goes Ovechkin! Riley! Riley! Riley!

  • Thats philly's best chance is to beat the piss out of the caps physically.
  • or we can just be the better team like we are
  • They haven't been the better team since the trading deadline. Do you remember your 10 game losing streak in Feb. and have a 12-18 record since Feb 6th. where as Washington has gone 18-10 over the same stretch.
  • Philly is the better team but that doesnt mean that we cant beat the crap out of the caps anyways.
  • What's utterly ridiculous is that if say Huet (who was absolutely a brickwall over the last month or so) had a terrible final game and the Canes won the division and made the playoffs instead, there was pretty decent chance that Ovechkin may have not gotten the Hart Trophy,
  • Why? 50% of the NHL makes the playoffs. So if your team doesn't make it how can you win the Hart. Sure Ovechkin scored 65 but what if the team let in 100 trying to get alex those 65. But since they made it he's a lock.
  • So you're implying that the Caps goal this year was to get Ovechkin his 65 goals and they just happen to make the playoffs along the way?
  • Wow, we're ruthless...
    HAHA

Alexander Ovechkin is a talented athlete indeed. I wish Washington luck, because your sports drought is far worse then Philly's. You guys spend A LOT of loot on your NFL coaches and your Baseball squad to not pull it together. I'd start hollering and light a torch under them if you really want to be heard...
  • As a Baltimore fan, I hate Washington sports (except hockey), but the Skins did win three Super Bowls.

Since the Caps and Flyers can't meet until the Eastern Finals, we look forward to it.
  • Since the caps and flyers can't meet until the eastern conference finals??? WOW you are a Skins fan! dumbasssss they play in rounde 1
  • I would counter that by pointing out that I somehow mistook Flyers fans for Penguins fans because it was late at night, but I'll let it go since you called Skins' fans dumbasses. We can both agree on that.
  • touche
  • The Wiz have been looking up in past years-even if injuries have been crushing us. And Gilbert is a great dc sports personality. Though I have to agree that Ovechkin is awesome
  • Denis Maruk would like a word with you
