from Ed Willes of the Vancouver Province, Ryan Kesler and the Sedins, who are one, two and three among NHL forwards in ice time, again logged a work load that contravened several of this province's labor laws. They just couldn't produce the decisive stroke when it mattered most. Playing mostly against the Wings' eternal pair of Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Henrik logged a season-high 26:41, Kesler clocked in at a paltry 25:20 and Daniel, the piker, finished with 24:09.... Now, the belief is that the law of diminishing returns will kick in with the twins and Kesler and then the Canucks will have problems, big problems. There is no Plan B. There is no secondary scoring on this team. They will go as far as the Big Three take them but they can't be expected to keep up this inhuman workload. That, at least, is the presumption and it will be analyzed within an inch of its life over the course of this season. Wednesday night, the twins and Kesler looked...

On the open market, the Sedins could’ve easily fetched over...

Canucks sign Sedins to extensions

Twin superstars Daniel and Henrik Sedin have signed four-year contract extensions with the Vancouver Canucks -- the only NHL team they have ever known. The twins signed matching four-year deals on Friday worth $28 million, avoiding what could have been a major in-season distraction. The Sedins could have become unrestricted free agents next summer, but instead decided it was in...

Canucks blame game: Wings win 2-1

What Went Wrong? Wings/Canucks When the Vancouver Canucks and the Detroit Red Wings hit the ice, you can usually count on a pretty entertaining game. Unfortunately when the two met on the night before Halloween, this wasn’t the case. It was a game that lacked flow, energy and not a lot of memorable moments. The only Canucks that seemed to be awake for this later than usual game...

PHOTO: Alex Ovechkin gives girl with sign a birthday puck

The sign read, ““All I Want 4 My 16th Birthday Is A Puck, Ovi.” […]The post Alexander Ovechkin flips puck to girl with sign asking for one...

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Winning Streak Ends, Bure Night Ahead

Wednesday October 30 Detroit Red Wings 2 - Vancouver Canucks 1 Happy Halloween! It was a bit of a scary showing on Wednesday night at Rogers Arena as the Detroit Red Wings snapped their four-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. I'm not so sure that the loss was a result of fatigue on the part of the top forwards—I think it's...

Top 10 Pavel Bure Moments: #4 Churla, Meet Pavel’s Elbow

It’s the most famous elbow in Canucks history. The Canucks were underdogs against the Dallas Stars in their second round playoff series in 1994. Coming off a 60 goal season and a double overtime series clinching goal, Pavel Bure was obviously a marked man. The Stars were hacking and whacking Bure at every opportunity in game 1, and again in game 2. Seven minutes into game 2, Bure...

Red Wings-Canucks quick take: Wings take a hard-fought game via clutch scoring, goaltending

T'was a strange game. You would think that John Tortorella and the streaking Vancouver Canucks, having won 4 straight and coming into a game against an 0-2-and-2 Wings team that was giving up 32-and-change shots per game, well... You'd think they'd shoot the damn puck. Instead, on some absolutely atrocious ice, the Canucks seemed relatively content to win a low-scoring...

Red Wings-Canucks game-day updates: Wings reset lines, Eaves to return vs. streaking Canucks

The Detroit Red Wings begin something of a gauntlet-running slate of 4 games played over the course of 6 nights when they tangle with the Vancouver Canucks tonight (10:30 PM, FSD/TSN/97.1 FM), and the Wings spent Tuesday insisting that they're ready to address the issues which have contributed to a 4-game losing streak. The Canucks apparently held a very brief morning skate...

Canucks Extend Sedin Twins by   Jack Weber

It looks like Henrik and Daniel Sedin will likely finish their careers where they started, as it was announced today that the Vancouver Canucks had signed the superstar twins to identical four-year contract extensions worth $28 million ($7 million per season, a raise from the current $6.1 million they made per season). They were scheduled to be unrestricted free agents [...]

Red Wings-Canucks wrap-up and overnight report: Wings earn a win to build upon

The Red Wings hopped on a very late-night flight to Calgary having snapped a 4-game winless streak, earning a gutsy, hard-working 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. I don't disagree with some of the Canucks' assessments of the game. It was definitely won and lost in the trenches, and the first period at least wasn't elegantly-played, especially on what was just...

Canucks vs Red Wings Game Preview – October 31, 2013

Courtesy: redwings.com The Vancouver Canucks are on a roll and looking to push their win streak up to 5 straight with a 7:00 pm Wednesday night game vs the Detroit Red Wings at Rogers Arena.
