6:45 was all that remained when things went downhill for the Buffalo Sabres.
Buffalo had just taken a 2-1 lead on a powerplay goal by Jason Pominville when Marco Sturm drove Jordan Leopold into the corner boards behind the Sabres net resulting in a five-minute major and a game misconduct, and Drew Stafford took a penalty for retaliation when he took out Sturm.

Sabres hit the ice late this morning.
John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports that injured centre/winger, Jochen Hecht, missed today's skate for what is being termed a "not scheduled".
Hmmmm.
This begs the question:
Has Hecht suffered yet another concussion setback?
Hecht did not play in a preseason game and has missed all nine Sabres games this season...

I've been to a pair of Sabres games this year and they lost both of them, 4-3. I'm planning to make my return on Wednesday against Philadelphia.
As for tonight's matchup against the Panthers, Ryan Miller will get the start in net. He put up 22 saves in a shutout performance against them last time.

4-2 loss in Buffalo comes down to special teams. While the hapless Blue Jackets went a horrid (even for them) 0 of 6, the Sabres went 2 for 3. Conveniently, the margin of victory. Columbus is an unworldly 10% with the man advantage on the season. Despite peppering Ryan Miller's stand-in for 43 shots, the team just cannot score on consistent basis. Jeff Carter is still out. What a mess.
