So the Trade Deadline is February 28th at 3PM EST. What we’re going to do from now until then is do an honest roster break down day by day for the month of February
Steve Bernier was acquired by the Florida Panthers on June 25, 2010, during the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Bernier was traded, along with Michael Grabner and the Canucks first round choice in the draft, the twenty-fifth selection (used to select Quinton Howden) to the Florida Panthers for Keith Ballard and Victor Oreskovich.
He is a gritty forward was some size and skill… the big forward received plenty of opportunities to excel – he played with Joe “millionaire maker” Thornton after all – but never took advantage of those opportunities…his play though has defiantly lacked in passion as of late having been quiet in January, tallying just one point over his last 12 games…for this PD has benched him and tried to start a fire under him. He has potential to be great 2nd or 3rd line winger but he has lacked in aggressiveness in the past games that he has played with the Florida Panthers.
I can see the Panthers trying to hang on to this guy at the upcoming trade deadline only because dale Tallon likes size and skill but in order for him to remain on this Panthers team he is going to need to show some determination and effort to put the puck in the net and be accountable defensively.
What do you guys think of Bernier?
