Inside The Wynn Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday night, the National Hockey League handed out it’s 2012 awards and the Nashville Predators were well represented.Team captain Shea Weber narrowly missed out on the Norris Trophy earlier in the night and David Poile lost out on the GM of the Year. The lone bright spot for the Preds came from forward Mike Fisher who won the NHL Foundation Player Award.And then there was the man between the pipes.Pekka Rinne led the league in wins (43), shots against (2,153) and saves (1,987), tied for the league lead in games played (73) and ranked second in minutes played (4,169) and games started (72). He even led his hockey club to their seventh playoff berth in eight years.Actor Ray Liotta presented Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers with the Vezina Trophy for the league’s best goaltender and it’s been announced that the Kempele, Finland native finished third in the voting. Nashville GM David Poile has finally admitted what most of us already suspected by revealing that star defenseman Ryan Suter intends to test the open market on July 1st. The statement, as seen on Pro Hockey Talk, indicates that Nashville is still optimistic that they will be able to retain Suter's services but will have to do so after the defenseman explores other options.
The Nashville Predators have signed forward Brandon Yip to a one-year deal worth $750,000, bringing back a player claimed off waivers in January.
The 27-year-old Yip had seven points in 25 games with the Predators, and he played in all 10 playoff games with two points. The Predators claimed him off waivers from Colorado on Jan. 19.

Well, I’ve always liked the play of Chris Mueller. He’s done well when called up, nothing spectacular yet, but produces heavily on the AHL level (especially as Milwaukee’s leading scorer last season). He’ll be on a 2-way contract again for one more season with Nashville, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens this year with him.
