Marc-Andre Fleury Hits Fan After Exiting Locker Room Tunnel

Before the start of the second period, Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was running down the tunnel when a fan looking for a fist-bump didn’t move his hand. He knocked Fleury on the head and Fleury didn’t appreciate it too much, going up to the fan and giving him a shot. I’m sure something else was said during the exchange and that this fan won’t be doing this...

Three Observations Heading into Game 79 Between the Penguins and Avalanche

By: Andy Hughes (@PensNation_Andy) Rest Ahead? The Pittsburgh Penguins only have four games left in the regular season, including tonight’s match against the Colorado Avalanche. With the Metropolitan Division title already wrapped up, the Penguins may elect to rest some of their players in the next few games. Jussi Jokinen and Olli Maatta both have upper-body injuries and missed...

Sidney Crosby Tries His Hand At NLL Goalie

Some of the Pittsburgh Penguins decided to try their hand at some lacrosse prior to the Minnesota Swarm game and captain Sidney Crosby got between the pipes. The NLL is box lacrosse and the goalies are allowed to wear full hockey goalie pads, where as the MLL is normal lacrosse. No word on whether or not Sid was any good, but he has some nice form. [@Ben_Pelton] [@NLL] The post...

Bortuzzo makes push to be on Penguins' playoff blue line

Two mysteries exist on the Penguins blue line: Will Kris Letang play again this season, and who replaces him during the playoffs should he not be available? Robert Bortuzzo has made a case to be that man. The physical Thunder Bay, Ontario, native was used as the Penguins' No. 6 defenseman against the Jets in Winnipeg on Thursday and is receiving rave reviews from assistant...

Penguins beat Avalanche in shootout, 3-2

There have been quite a few times lately when the Penguins really haven’t looked like themselves. Sunday night, they had a pretty good excuse for it. And they didn’t even need to use it. So never mind that the two points the Penguins earned in a 3-2 shootout victory against Colorado at Pepsi Center will have absolutely no impact on their playoff prospects or matchup. Or anything...

RECAP: Game 78: Penguins lose 4-0 to Wild. ☆

The Penguins really didn’t seem to care about this game. Minnesota had stuff to play for. The Penguins did not. According to Rob Rossi, the Penguins view the rest of the season as exhibition: Next 4 games about health, rest and some experimenting for #pens. View them as exhibitions. Probably wise for fans to take same approach. — Rob Rossi (@RobRossi_Trib) April 6, 2014 Yeah...

Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice drilled in head by puck, stays on bench (video)

Paul Maurice is like the Timex watch of NHL head coaches: He takes a licking and keeps on ticking. During Thursday night’s tilt between the Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins, Maurice was drilled right in the forehead by an errant puck that flew into the vicinity of the Jets’ bench. Maurice, displaying the gritty toughness […] The post Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice drilled...

Breaking Down Playoff Opponents: the Columbus Blue JacketsColumbus hasn't had much post-season success since joining the NHL and their inclusion in the 2014 playoffs is far from a sure thing, but the Blue Jackets have a chance to play for the Stanley Cup while avoiding their long-time Western Conference nemesis, the Detroit Red Wings, if they faceoff against thePenguins in Round...

Jokinen, Fleury lead Penguins past Avs 3-2 in SO

DENVER (AP) Jussi Jokinen skated across the front of the crease and roofed a shot over sprawling goalie Semyon Varlamov to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche in a shootout on Sunday night.

Pittsburgh Hands Ducks Second SO Loss in a Row

Best of the West versus the best of the East.   Both the Ducks and Penguins showed why they are on the top of their conference and both are pretty evenly matched.  Even though the Ducks lost in the sixth round of the shootout (for the second game in a row),  it could have gone either way in the 3-2 defeat.   Both teams came out of the gate strong, despite Pittsburgh having...

Game 78: Penguins vs. Wild Recap

Man, did the Penguins suck tonight. But know what? It doesn’t matter. Not even a little bit. The Penguins are locked into the two seed in the east at this point. The only thing up in the air at this point is who the Pens are going to play in the first round of the…
