The Confluence of the Three Rivers:
The Pittsburgh Penguins have turned Ryan Bayda's training camp tryout into a one year, two-way contract. Bayda, 28, has spent 8 years in the Carolina Hurricanes' organization while posting 40 points in 179 career NHL games, all with the Hurricanes. He has also played in 305 career AHL games with Albany, Manitoba, and Lowell, putting up 216 points in that span.
The absence of Max Talbot due to injury really opened the door for Bayda to earn a contract. He was originally going to attend camp with the St. Louis Blues, but decided to come to Pittsburgh after the Blues signed veteran Derek Armstrong. It is thought that Bayda will now make the opening night roster, and likely be reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton once Talbot returns.
