Steel City Sports Report:
Toronto Maple Leafs
St. Louis Blues
Los Angeles Kings
Unless a team trades for Wayne Gretzky and the DeLorean, the Pittsburgh Penguins will emerge as the winners of the trade deadline and all moves leading up to it.And unless an Eastern Conference team makes a move within the next two days, fourteen teams not named the Penguins, will be in big trouble down the final stretch. Ray Shero did not make the same mistake as last year, standing pat despite the fact that his team was racing for a long playoff run. He acquired a bruising defenseman in Douglas Murray, a veteran, gritty goal scorer in Brenden Morrow, and a future hall of fame player in Jarome Iginla, hungry for the very same Stanley Cup that eluded him nine years ago. All three players were top targets, with Iginla being the most prized possession, and Ray Shero took them for a few prospects and draft picks. Some of the top remaining players, Jay Bouwmeester and Robyn Regehr, were dealt on Monday to the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings, respectively. So what now for teams i...

Pittsburgh Penguins star/captain Sidney Crosby has enjoyed a serious comeback this season after numerous false starts last year due to his bout with concussions.
Now that he’s on a roll, it’s not likely that he will let a few missing teeth stop him from helping his team lunge for the NHL’s consecutive wins record.

GET WELL SOON
Sidney Crosby is unable to speak as he recovers from his broken jaw. He is also on a liquid diet for the foreseeable future.
Welcome to the Sports Blitz’s March Round up of NHL action around the league. We’re releasing this one early thanks to the big Iginla trade and so we could cover the trade deadline before TSN blankets your Twitter account on Wednesday. We’ll be back next week with a full recap and reaction to every trade that goes down.

Don’t hand the Stanley Cup to the Penguins just yet.
Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby will be missing games indefinitely after undergoing surgery for a broken jaw on Saturday night, according to the team. The Penguins star was hit in the face by a puck in Saturday’s win against the Islanders.
Crosby “underwent major dental work and will have additional dental work later in...
The Pittsburgh Penguins took the ice yesterday with high hopes and the fire to keep their winning streak going against the NY Islanders and then everything went scared in the first 87 seconds of the opening period.
Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby took a Brooks Orpik slap shot to the face after it was redirected. Fans around the league watched Crosby be down for a few moments and...
So the Bruins lost out on Jarome Iginla last week. But fans who are still upset that the former Flames captain chose Pittsburgh over Boston can smile once again, as it appears as if Jaromir Jagr is coming to Boston.
Which player is a better pick up? Jagr heading to the B’s or Iginla to the Pens? Both are future Hockey Hall of Fame wingers and both can put the puck in the net...
All good things eventually come to an end. In the case of the Pittsburgh Penguins, their winning streak failed to reach 16 games as the Buffalo Sabres won at home by a score of 4-1.
Now that their streak is officially a thing of the past, it's time to look back and marvel at what the Penguins were able to accomplish.
Hockey analysts and fans will surely debate which...
The Pittsburgh Penguins won games when Paul Martin and Kris Letang went down with injuries. They slugged through close battles when Evgeni Malkin was out, and they found a way to shutout back to back opponents without the help of Marc-Andre Fleury. But in their first full game without Sidney Crosby, the Penguins came out flat and couldn't come back from a three goal deficit.The...

On Saturday night, in a 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, the Edmonton Oilers played what I would call their best team game since the rebuild began. it was a record-setting night as the young Oilers scored on each of their first three shots in just 2:43 of game-play. It was the fastest three goals from the start of the game in Edmonton Oilers franchise history, breaking the...
