Staal Tactics:
Heading into this game I was a little weary about the outcome. Sure the Islanders are kind of cruddy but it was their home debut and more importantly Johnathan Tavares' first NHL game. Couple those little nuggets of wisdom with the fact that the Pens were playing on back-to-back nights and you could smell an upset brewing. That didn't happen of course as the Pens repeated what they did so well last season by coming from behind in the third period. Did I really just write coming from behind? Last season Pittsburgh won 11 games in which they were trailing to start the third period. That total was the highest in the NHL and shows the never say die attitude the team possesses. Its nice to see that carrying over to this season. Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby both notched shootout goals while Marc-Andre Fleury "turned away" Jeff Tambellini and John Tavares for the win. I say "turned away" because Tambellini hit the crossbar and Tavares missed the net all together...
