Chuck Kobasew will be lost for 3-4 weeks with a lower body ailment, this per an announcement on the clubs twitter feed. This is just another in a list of injured players for the Pittsburgh Penguins so far this year.
After attending camp on a PTO and playing well, (he scored two goals in 12 games and averaged 12:32 TOI per night), the Penguins signed Kobasew, 31, to a one year deal. The injury occurred in the first period on a hit from Carolina’s Tim Gleason on Monday. Kobasew joins a list of Penguins on the injured list including defenseman Rob Scuderi (broken ankle), Beau Bennett (lower body), forward James Neal (upper body), and Tomas Vokoun, (blood clot in hip).
Jayson Megna now has an opening to make more of a permanent impact with the club with Kobasew, Bennett and Neals injuries. Megna is an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska Omaha who got his first NHL goal, assist and points in a win over Carolina 3-1 in almost 11 minutes of playing time.
