Sidney Crosby scored his 13th goal, Tomas Vokoun stopped 31 shots, and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Sunday for their ninth straight win. Joe Vitale added his first goal in more than a year for the Penguins, who have beaten the Bruins five consecutive times. Tyler Seguin scored his 10th goal for Boston, and Tuukka Rask made 16 saves but couldn't stop the Bruins from losing to Pittsburgh for the second time in less than a week. The Penguins scored three times in the final 7 minutes Tuesday to steal a 3-2 victory. There were no dramatics necessary this time, as hockey's hottest team never trailed to remain unbeaten in March.

John Toperzer: Penguins Poll Monday: Evgeni Malkin or Kris Letang?

A nine-game winning streak gives Pens fans a very little bit of breathing room to consider the future. Two of Pittsburgh’s core players, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin, see their contracts end after the 2013-14 season. Malkin carries and annual average value of $8.7 million while Letang checks in at $3.5 million (courtesy of capgeek). Both players will command raises. If the...

Claude Julien Gives No Update About David Krejci’s Injury Following Loss to Penguins

The Bruins have been lucky when it comes to injuries this season, but that trend seems to be reversing a bit. First, the Bruins lost center Chris Kelly indefinitely with a broken tibia suffered last week. Now the Bruins are hoping center David Krejci avoids joining Kelly. Krejci left Sunday’s loss to the Penguins with an apparent knee or leg injury after he took a Johnny Boychuk...

Fleury leads Penguins in shutout

Marc-Andre Fleury couldn't help it. With the Pittsburgh Penguins' franchise record for career shutouts in sight late in the third period against the New York Rangers on Saturday, the talented if occasionally erratic goalie let his mind drift. ''I wanted it so bad,'' Fleury said. ''I tried to not jinx it. I was touching wood, but yeah I was looking...

Penguins Have Seen This Fish Before

Looks familiar, doesn't it? As another spring is (barely) inching closer by the day, the Penguins are on yet another roll, winners of nine straight.  The Pens' first line of Kunitz/Crosby/Dupuis are playing out of their minds.  Even their defense, which was much maligned not very long ago, is playing much, much better. And all this recently without Evgeni Malkin. ...

Bruins’ First Line Finally Breaks Out, But Contributing More Consistently Must Follow

BOSTON — Sometimes in sports, a celebration tells you more than just a bunch of grown men are happy to do have done their jobs. In some cases, it gives you an inside look as to how much pressure those same grown men can be under to do their job. You could certainly sense that on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden when Bruins forwards Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic teamed up for a thunderous...

Boston Bruins: Last Two Weeks By The Numbers

Tuukka Rask leads the league in wins through eight weeks of play, but what stats aren’t you aware of? It’s hard to believe another two weeks have come and gone so quickly. The Bruins‘ 39 points have them in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference, just one behind Montreal. Some of the numbers haven’t been kind to the team, however, including three-goal leads and Tuukka...

27. Boston Bruins at Pittsburgh Penguins.... ...

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I hope everyone is resting their hangover with a Bloody Mary or something of that ilk as they get ready for what should be a really good hockey game today. Boston is back in Pittsburgh to take on the Eastern Conference's second place team for the second time in less than a week. If you want to give yourself PTSD, you'll remember...

Milan Lucic, Nathan Horton Exchange High Five After Bruins Goal (Animation)

When it comes to goal-scoring celebrations, high fives aren’t usually very high up on the list. That changed on Saturday afternoon, after Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton exchanged a thunderous high five after the Bruins scored. Check it out in the animation below.

Bruins-Jets Preview

With the lockout-shortened season winding down and playoff races heating up, the condensed schedule is beginning to take its toll on the Boston Bruins and Winnipeg Jets. Neither team will be getting much of a break anytime soon, either. Boston looks to avoid a third consecutive road loss Tuesday night by earning a third straight win over Winnipeg, which begins a four-game homestand...
