The March of the Penguins continued Tuesday Night as the Pens put a thumping on the outgunned Winnipeg Jets by a score of 8-4.  The game was played at a frantic pace as both teams seemed to abandon any thoughts of playing defense.  The action was continuous as both teams saw countless scoring chances, but the Penguins top-end talent just proved to be too much for the Jets to overcome.

Evgeni Malkin earned the game’s first star with 2G and 3A to extend his points lead over Stamkos to 9.  Malkin wasn’t the only Penguin to put up big numbers though, as Crosby had 4 points and James Neal registered a hat trick before the second period even ended.  It was an entertaining game to say the least, but probably more important that any individual stat is that the victory brought the Penguins back within 1 point of the East leading Rangers.

The Rangers, who have struggled in recent weeks will be paired up with the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow night while the Pens will be squaring off against the Nashville Predators on Thursday.  The match-ups are pairing two of the best in the East against two of the best in the West with some significant playoff seeding implications at stake.  Each game becomes more and more important this time of year, and its almost to the point now that you can feel a playoff like atmosphere.  The next 2 weeks will be a fun couple of weeks to be a hockey fan.
