The Philadelphia Flyers didn’t win much in terms of team accolades but the NHL recognized forward Ian Laperriere on Wednesday, winning the Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Laperriere suffered a likely career-ending injury in 2010 after being hit in the face twice by pucks. Despite being unable to play this year, Laperriere was a massive help for the Flyers, mentoring younger players and helping in a variety of capacities.
