The Philadelphia Flyers rookie camp got underway Friday, with the team inviting 25 prospects to the SkateZone in Voorhees, including 2013 1st round pick Samuel Morin, and 2012 1st round pick Scott Laughton.
The prospects seemed to take it easy on day one, as head coach Peter Laviolette and Adriondack Phantoms assistant Riley Cote ran them through basic skating and shooting drills. The players were off the ice after 90 minutes, capping their day with a little four on four action. Laughton seemed pleased to be back in Voorhees to prove what he can do. “The ultimate goal is clear: to make this team” he said.
Out of all the prospects in Voorhees for the three day camp, Laughton is clearly the only one with a viable chance of making the opening night roster. He’s aware that all eyes are on him. “I want to get better everyday, show the coaches I’m aware of their system, and try and become a part of the team.”
