Found September 30, 2013 on The Hockey Guys:
By David Strehle (@David_Strehle) It has been an interesting preseason for the Philadelphia Flyers, and GM Paul Holmgren will have his work cut out for him to get his team’s 23-man opening night roster set as the 5:00 p.m. deadline rapidly approaches. The Flyers are just under $1.25 million over the salary cap, and moves will be coming today for the club to have their roster in place. Holmgren didn’t appear to be in any rush Sunday. “Without giving away any details, secrets, we’ll know,” the GM said of the Monday deadline following Sunday’s practice. “That’s when I’ll make everyone aware of what we’re doing. I’m not trying to be secretive, but we’re still juggling things. I’m trying to decide what’s best.” Rumors out of Colorado Saturday suggested Holmgren was exploring the possibility of sending a defenseman to the Avalanche in exchange for forward John Mitchell. One name that keeps coming up is that of Andrej Meszaros, the oft-injured blue liner with a $4 million cap hit. Color

Flyers Roster Takes Shape; Hall, Gervais sent to Adirondack

The Flyers 2013-14 roster finally has been set, just minutes before the 5:00 PM deadline set by the NHL. After forward Adam Hall and defenseman Bruno Gervais cleared waivers, the team sent them to their AHL affiliate Adirondack Phantoms. General Manager Paul Holmgren also said that defenseman Chris Pronger would be put on long-term injury reserve before the night was over. Flyers...

Hal Gill signs one-year deal with Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers signed veteran defenseman Hal Gill to a one-year deal the team announced Tuesday. Gill's contract is worth $700000 according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. Gill may be a step slower but the mammoth defenseman brings a lot of experience at an extremely reasonable cost for the cap-crunched Flyers. An invitee on a PTO to Flyers' camp Gill showed he still...

Flyers Still “Juggling” Roster

from Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly, General manager Paul Holmgren said he hasn’t figured out just yet what becomes of Adam Hall and Bruno Gervais now that they cleared waivers. “Without giving away any details, secrets, we’ll know [on Monday],” Holmgren said. “Nothing needs to be finalized from our standpoint till 5 p.m. tomorrow. “That’s when I’ll make...

Waiving of Hall leaves questions unanswered among the forward group

The Philadelphia Flyers waived Adam Hall on Saturday and he cleared waivers on Sunday. While he has yet to be sent to down to the Phantoms, you can’t help but wonder what is in store for the forward group. It’s entirely possible (probably even likely) that we see additional moves before the season begins, but I seriously scratch my head with this one. Any plan that potentially...

The Flyers’ Most Intense Rivalries

The Philadelphia Flyers were born in 1967 when Ed Snider took a heavy gamble on a sport many Philadelphians had never heard of. Since then they have had many intense rivalries, some of which stem from their disgraceful play on the ice. This would upset and frankly frighten hockey purists everywhere. These rivalries grew from there: 4. Flyers – Islanders These two metropolitan rivals...

Final Roster Set for Opening Night (Almost)

The Flyers have set their final 21-men roster for Opening Night. However, this will not be the exact roster the team will have on the ice come Wednesday night. The team had to have a roster set by 5:00 pm today, September 30. Those not on the roster include: Adam Hall (forward) and Bruno Gervais (defenseman), who have both been loaned to the Flyers AHL afiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms...
