Bleacher Report:
According to Anthony SanFilippo, the Philadelphia Flyers will waive defenseman Randy Jones either today or tomorrow. The move will clear up $2.75 million and will allow the Flyers to carry Blair Betts, Mika Pyorala and James van Riemsdyk.
If Jones clears waivers, he’ll be sent to the Adirondack Phantoms where he’ll play the 2009-10 season. His contract will not count against the cap. If a team claims him straight off waivers, Jones will no longer be a problem for the Flyers because they’ll be off the hook for his $2.75 million contract. If he is put on re-entry waivers and claimed, his contract will be split in half between the Flyers and the claiming team.
This assures that Danny Syvret and Ole-Kristian Tollefsen will make the Flyers as the sixth and seventh defensemen. It remains unseen who will be what.
