Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle hasn’t received any inside information on his candidacy for Team USA’s Olympic roster. “I haven’t gotten any hints whatsoever,” the Massachusetts native said. “From what I’m told, we’re going to find out when everyone else finds out.” So hours before the team was set to be revealed, at the conclusion of Wednesday’s Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium, Yandle still pleaded his case to be included. And he probably couldn’t have asked for a better last-ditch effort as he scored twice, one of which was the overtime winner, and added an assist in what’s become a trademark come-from-behind win for the Coyotes – this one a 4-3 success over the Edmonton Oilers in front of the largest home crowd of the season – 17,416 – Tuesday at Jobing.com Arena to start a season-long six-game homestand. “I don’t know if the team’s already picked,” Yandle said. “But I just tried to go out and prove myself and give myself the best shot to make the team.” More importantly for the Coyotes, they secured a valuable second point in a franchise-record sixth straight overtime game after falling into a two-goal hole. For the second straight game, the Coyotes found the equalizer with their goalie on the bench. Winger Mikkel Boedker scored with 1:10 left to call for overtime, and then Yandle capitalized on a partial breakaway with seven seconds remaining in the extra period. Before that, the Coyotes had managed only one point in each of their last three games.
