As the free agent frenzy calms down, the Coyotes announced they have resigned veteran winger Radim Vrbata to a multi-year contract.
Vrbata scored 19 goals and had 29 assists in 79 games with the Coyotes last season. He is a good veteran winger who has good speed and is creative in the offensive zone. He was one of the most lethal Coyotes on the power play last season as he scored 10 goals with the man advantage. He also finished the season ranked 4th in overall scoring. The Coyotes were a team last season that needed an offensive spark at times, and Vrbata is a player they can depend on for igniting that spark in the future.
In the playoffs, Vrbata had 5 points, 2 goals and 3 assists, in the 4 games against Detroit. Vrbata’s playoff experience in the postseason will be very valuable if this team makes a playoff run next year.
On another note, it being rumored right now that the Coyotes front office is shopping the rights to restricted free agent defenseman Keith Yandle. Yandle was an all-star last year and ended the season ranked 2nd in points on the team with 59.
