Defenseman Joni Pitkanen did not travel with the Canes to Tampa and will miss his second straight game. Pitkanen played Tuesday in the Canes' 2-1 shootout victory over the Lightning and assisted on Jussi Jokinen's goal. He did not play in the third period after experiencing stiffness and soreness in his knee, and sat out last night's game against Florida. Pitkanen underwent knee surgery Sept. 10 and missed the first two regular-season games. The Canes' next game after tonight will be Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, allowing Pitkanen additional recovery time.
