Radek Martinek is one of the oldest players on the New York Islanders roster, and brings a lot of experience to the Islanders defensive group.

At 34-years-old, Martinek stayed healthy for 64 games, the most games he has played in a season since the 2007-2008 season.

Martinek had a solid season, with three goals and 13 assists, but with so much young talent I don’t think we will be seeing him on the top two defensive lines for much longer.

Martinek has been a journeyman throughout his NHL career, and it will be interesting to see if that journey continues with the Isles next season.

If he can stay healthy Martinek can add something to almost any team, but the Islanders are getting a lot younger and would probably much prefer a player like Aaron Ness to get more ice time.
