Trent Hunter was with the New York Islanders for the first 17 games of the season before going down with a torn MCL and missing the remainder of the season.

Hunter was off to a pretty slow start with only a goal and three assists but that is somewhat to be expected of a third/fourth line player.

Hunter has been with the Isles since the 2002-2003 season, but he may have already played his last game in blue and orange. It would seem as though even without Hunter in the mix there are too many forwards for too few spots.

At 30-years-old Hunter still may be able to latch on to another team, but the Islanders have a bunch of younger players who can also contribute more.

Hunter had a stretch of five straight good seasons, but as he grows older and come back from an injury that is in no way easy to recover his chances of playing for the Isles are slim.
