While honoring Bernie Nicholls on the ice during Legends Night on Saturday, the Los Angeles Kings showed highlights of some of the Pumper Nicholl's finest moments. One particular goal came in the 1982 playoff opener, a game Los Angeles defeated Edmonton, 10-8 Smythe Division hockey at its finest.
Fast-forwarding 29 years, the Kings have accumulated 10 goals in their last six...
Los Angeles Kings left wing Ethan Moreau was sent to Manchester of the American Hockey League on Saturday after he went unclaimed on waivers.
The 36-year-old Moreau was placed on waivers Friday after scoring one goal to go with three assists in 28 games this season.
He also had an unproductive season with Columbus in 2010-11, scoring just one goal in 37 games.
via Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider, The Kings are on the ice for practice, but without Ethan Moreau, who was placed on waivers this morning. Moreau also did not play in the third period last night. Otherwise, the top two lines are the same and Willie Mitchell is once again a full participant in practice. Moreau’s presumed removal from the roster tomorrow — teams will have until...
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have activated defenseman Willie Mitchell from the injured reserve list (lower body injury) and have assigned forward Ethan Moreau to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
from Helene Elliott and Lisa Dillman of the LA Times, Kings executives are poised to dismiss Coach Terry Murray this week, hoping to halt a string of disappointing performances and revive an offense that has produced a league-low 2.24 goals per game despite a beefed-up payroll that puts the team near the salary-cap limit for the first time.
People familiar with the situation but...
Less than a week ago I picked Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings as the top goalie so far this season. He was the best of a crowded group of top goalies in part because of the high number of saves he has had to make with the Kings. Very quickly things have changed. Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins has emerged as the top goalie so far this season.
Thomas has a .941...
from Lisa Dillman of the Fabulous Forum at the LA Times, A night of nostalgia ended in boos by the Staples Center fans on Saturday night as Dallas beat the Kings, 2-1. The frustration and anger was visible in the dressing room, which not a surprise if you consider the Kings have lost four in a row, scoring an underwhelming six goals in that stretch.
A major player trade was expected...
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings will honor former standout Bernie Nicholls tonight as part of this year’s first Kings Legends Night Series presented by McDonald’s. As part of the evening, Nicholls will be featured in a ...

In the third period on Thursday night, Minnesota Wild forward (and Puck Daddy Q&A curse victim) Kyle Brodziak connected on a shoulder-to-shoulder hit that sent Los Angeles Kings star Anze Kopitar head-first into the boards. Brodziak was whistled for a 5-minute major and a game misconduct.
Brodziak, after the game, was indignant; especially since Kopitar recovered quickly enough...
I started this blog 3 years ago at the start of the 2008-2009 NHL season. The Los Angeles Kings were coming off a 29th overall finish and had just hired a brand new coach. And I knew it was doomed from the start.
What the heck is a "seaon?"
Today, Coach Terry Murray was let go by the Kings after 3 seasons and 29 games of service. He was exactly who we thought he would...
