I was with them, so a quick story: I covered a game here with the 1995-96 Avs, and in those days, with the team new in town and everybody just trying to get to know each other, sometimes the team let us writers fly with team to and from games. One of them was to Winnipeg. I remember the Avs blowing out the Jets in the old Winnipeg Arena (the one with the imposing portrait of the Queen hanging over the ice). I remember Claude Lemieux’s voice ringing throughout the ice to get a pass from Martin Rucinsky, something you could easily hear in the press box seats just above the ice. “Right here Rosy”, Lemieux yelled at Rucinsky, who had that nickname. After a big win, we all got on the plane to go home to Denver, but then mechanical problems ensued and we had to all get off the plane while they said it would take a few hours to fix, and the decision was made to have a team...
