The Nashville Predators head back to the drawing board at Centennial Sportsplex this morning to try to find more answers to their lagging offense. In the Preds' history, they have always been a team that found ways to win in spite of short-comings but this year's version has yet to find that knack.

With the exception of the Vancouver loss, the team has not been bad, and in fact has done some positive things that have looked better than past years in certain stretches.

The power play has been a mixed bag with crisp passing and good pressure at times and complete breakdowns at other times like on the Sharks first goal last night.

It is certainly not time to panic, but more consistency is needed sooner than later.

Our Morning After Round-Up will be up shortly with more on last night's game.

In Pred Nation...

It turns out that it was not Mattias Ekholm's decision to return to Europe to play after all. His club in Sweden had the right of first refusal and they wanted him back.

Josh Cooper indicates that there is no timetable for Marty Erat's return. He also talked to Mike Fisher and Francis Bouillon before their return in last night's game.

Carrie Underwood and her country music friends are sending the Predators packing during the CMA festivities.

The Montreal Gazette has a nice feature on Kirk Muller's new position in Milwaukee.

Around the NHL...

Evgeni Malkin made his return in Pittsburgh after missing five games and looked like he never left as the Pens shutout the Islanders 3-0 in a game that showed none of the carry-over hostilities from last season. The teams play again tomorrow night.

James Wisniewski made his season debut in Columbus. The Blue Jackets got their first win of the season and it left the Red Wings steaming.

The Lester Patrick Award will be handed out tonight at the RiverCentre tonight in St. Paul.

Chris Pronger's facial injury on Monday had most of the hockey world talking about visors all day yesterday.

I was listening to the Flyers radio broadcast of the game with Toronto when Pronger was injured and the crowd was not happy with a no-call. Kerry Fraser came on the radio and explained why. Here is the written version.

The rumor that the 2012 NHL Entry Draft will be held in Pittsburgh at the Consol Energy Center is set to be confirmed at a news conference on Thursday. Now, if we can get confirmation on the NHL Awards Show's return to Las Vegas, we can start making our post-season plans.

Fans in Montreal are outraged at the Habs 1-5-2 start and are calling for Jacques Martin's head but he is unconcerned.

The Ranger's marathon road trip is finally over and they will have the latest home opener in the NHL this season tomorrow at Madison Square Gardens.

Ex-Pred Cody Franson appears to be on the trading block in Toronto. He is not the type of player that you would expect not to fit in to any situation.

Paul Kelly weighs in with his support to raise the draft age to nineteen.

Justin Bourne has some fun proposition odds from Bodog at Backhand Shelf.

Down Goes Brown puts their usual spin on the new coaches in the NHL this year.

Odds and Ends...

Someone is out of something to do as they are researching zombie brains and to explain the neuroscience of them.

I saw a Tweet on Monday about the Northern Lights being visible in Tennessee and thought the person was on crack. It appears that it did really happen.

How would you like to be beaten by an "electronic whip" all day at work? The "happiest place on earth" employs this method to keep employees hustling.

American is the "most hated" airlines according to analysis of social media.
