Predators Insider: Preds beat Colorado again

Before the beginning of this home and home set with Colorado, the Predators knew they needed all four points. But it seemed like a pipe dream. With their 3-2 overtime win over the Avalanche, the Predators have put themselves four points clear of Colorado with a total of 52 points to Colorado's 48. Coming into this series, Nashville was only one point ahead of the Avalanche. It...

One more thing: Preds sweep home-and-home

Before Tuesday’s game in Colorado, Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne called their home-and-home with the Avalanche a “mini playoff series.” Even though it’s mid-January, it felt just like a mini playoff series that was being played in February or March. The Predators came away victorious, 4-1, over the Avalanche on Tuesday. That win was followed up by last night’s 3-2 overtime...

Rangers Keeping an Eye on Weber & Suter

Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com reports that the Rangers are looking to trade for either a top-six forward and/or a power-play defenseman with a good shot.LeBrun adds the Blueshirts are keeping a close eye on what the Predators are going to do with either Ryan Suter (UFA July 1, $3.5 million this year) or Shea Weber (RFA July 1, $7.5 million this year), who are two players they would covet...

The Morning After Round-Up: Predators 4, Avalanche 1

Going into last night's game in Denver, you had to wonder how the Predators would react, hitting the road for the first time in the new year against a team that was one of the hottest in the league at this juncture. Two goals in the first 7:41 of the contest and another before the end of the opening period quickly provided a cushion that they were able to ride for the remainder...

Smith ‘humbled’ by All-Star Game inclusion

Rookies play a small part in the All-Star Weekend festivities, as they usually only participate in the skills competition. But don’t tell that to Predators forward Craig Smith, who couldn’t wipe the grin off his face when he learned the news that he was named to the NHL’s All-Star Game rookie roster.“It’s going be a neat experience,” Smith said after Thursday’s morning...

Predators Insider: New roster not much drop off

With a mostly different, and much younger, roster from a year ago, it would only seem logical that the Predators would drop off somewhat this year from last season. But Nashville keeps finding ways to keep on its pace from last season. After their 4-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, the Predators have 50 points in 42 games, just two points off their total at the...

Preds bail out Rinne, beat Avs in overtime…

On Thursday night, the Nashville Predators did something that they rarely do. Bail their goaltender out. The Preds defeated the visiting Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in overtime at Bridgestone Arena, sweeping the home-and-home series. Pekka Rinne made 27 saves — and a mental gaffe — en route to his 22nd victory of the season. Rinne, who’s usually skilled with the puck, tried an...

Fans rallying behind Predators this season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- One streak came to an end for the Nashville Predators on Thursday -- but just barely -- while another one continued. Both are connected. The Predators missed their ninth consecutive sellout at Bridgestone Arena by only 208 fans and that came on a night when snow was in the forecast and numerous local schools were canceled the next day because of snow and ice...

Preds blueliners Weber, Suter honored by NHL

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan said it in December. Dallas Stars coach Glen Gulutzan made a reference in the same regard last week. What had been casually thrown around for much of the season, if not before -- that the Predators' defense tandem of Ryan Suter and Shea Weber is the best in the NHL -- might have received a semi-official stamp of approval...

Rinne snubbed again…or was he?

Photo Credit: John Russell/NHLI via Getty Images If one was to poll a group of Nashville Predators fans for their three favorite hometown players, you might receive a variety of responses. Sure, there may be a great many “Weber,” “Suter,” “Tootoo” answers. There may even be the occasional nod to more polarizing players, such as McGrattan or Legwand. However, it...

Aaron Musick: Avs start early, lose late

On the second game of a home-and-home series with the Nashville Predators, the Avs played the mirrored version of their first game. In the first game, the Avs did not play in the first period but played well in periods two or three. In this game, they only played the first period. After being handed, in Ryan O'Reilly's case, literally, a 2-0 lead the Avs let off the...
