The Nashville Predators have claimed forward Bobby Butler off of the waiver wire. Butler was sent to the AHL by the New Jersey Devils.  The Predators aren't very deep offensively, even more so with the trade of Brian McGrattan. Butler will likely see the NHL roster for the time being. One could reasonably assume that he will get the same deal as Clune - a chance to stay in the NHL if Trotz is happy with his contributions in the early games. Unfortunately, if Trotz's preferences and history are consistent, Butler will likely replace either Yip or Halischuk in the starting line-up.    Butler has played 14 games for New Jersey this season, he has 1 goal, 1 assist and no penalty minutes in that time. During the lockout Butler was in Albany where he had 27 points in 37 games.  Butler first started professionally with the Ottawa/Binghamton Senators. He won a Calder cup with the AHL affiliate and also played 92 games with the NHL club. But his play with the team deteriorated, and the Senators bought our his contract.  As a free agent, he signed with the New Jersey Devils during the 2012 offseason. When not scratched, butler usually plated alongside the young and talented Adam Henrique and the less young and less talented Alexie Ponikarovsky. Expect him to appear in the bottom two lines for Nashville.
