Over the past two days, the Predators’ style of hockey has come under some criticism and questioning. The team didn’t have enough offense. It had too many third- and fourth-line players.
While there may be some truth to those thoughts, at least for one night in New York the “Predator Way” looked like the right way.

“I think we know for our team to win it has to be everybody pitching in every night,” Gaustad said. “That’s the type of hockey we have to play, and if we do that, we’re going to be successful and we’re going to be a team that’s battling for the playoffs. I think tonight it’s one of those things that when you see the fourth line on the sheet it’s usually one of those things that every line is chipping in.”

Predators coach Barry Trotz is often quick to point out that the NHL is not a developmental league.
But when it comes to Trotz and most of his defensemen, his ability to coax and push their talent to a tangible level in the NHL is of the utmost importance. A lot of them are young and inexperienced and need to be brought up to speed.
