The Nashville Predators continued their preseason hot streak alive when they defeated the Winnipeg Jets  3-2 in a shootout at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on Friday night. The Preds are now 6-1 during the exhibition season.

It was Cal O'Reilly's night as he scored the first goal of the game and then scored the only goal and game winner in the shootout.

The game was a back and forth affair with the Preds taking the early lead at 7:51 in the opening period on  the goal by O'Reilly. The Jets tied the game on a goal by Andrew Ladd 5:57 into the middle stanza.

Both teams scored in the third, with David Legwand putting the Preds in the lead at 7:28 and Mark Scheifele sending the game to overtime with a score at 13:07. No one was able to cash in during the overtime period.

The Preds outshot the Jets 11-5 in the opening period but trailed the Jets 16-3 and 12-5 in the final two periods.

Anders Lindback stopped 35 of 37 for the Preds to get the win while Ondrej Pavelec stopped 22 of 24 in a good effort while taking the loss.

Zack Stortini kept his fight streak alive with a bout with Tanner Glass, early in the second period.

The Predators returned home after the game and will face the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Bridgestone Arena.
