With Smith's contract set to expire next offseason, this deal will lock him up until the 2014-15 season. In the two year extension, Smith will receive $2 million each season.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Nashville Predators signed defenseman Kevin Klein to a five-year, 14.5 million contract Saturday.
The 27-year-old Klein had four goals and 17 assists in 66 regular-season games last season, and added two goals and two assists in 10 playoff games. In 309 career games, he has 12 goals and 53 assists.
The Nashville Predators announced Saturday afternoon that they have re-signed defenseman Kevin Klein to a 5 year, $14.5 million contract extension.
