Before this morning’s pre-game tune-up, it was announced that the Predators have placed forward Martin Erat on Injured Reserve with an upper body injury. Erat, who is still suffering from a hit he took in Columbus, missed Saturday’s game against St. Louis and hasn’t skated since. Coach Barry Trotz has stated repeatedly that this injury is not related to his back.Erat being placed on IR opens up a roster spot for the Preds to take Mike Fisher or Francis Bouillon off IR, though neither is expected to play this weekend. It has to be frustrating for Erat to go down in the first game. He has been injury-prone in recent years and missed 18 games in 2010-11 with a back injury.
