Canes coach Paul Maurice plans to mix veterans with younger players in the first couple of exhibition games, but only to a point. You won't see, say, prospect Zach Boychuk on the wing with Eric Staal at center. Maurice and the coaches more likely will roll out a line of Boychuk, Brandon Sutter and Drayson Bowman — respective ages 19, 20 and 20.  "We've seen Boychuk, Sutter and Bowman play together, so there's some chemistry and there's a comfort level there," Maurice said, referring to the Canes' recent title run in the NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Mich. "That's a starting point for us and I think you will see those guys playing together. "We're probably not going to audition players for positions that they're not going to get an opportunity (to fill). Nobody's trying out for No. 1 center. So we'll put them in positions where when we call them up -- where will this player be? "I think so...
