Happy Pi (Paille) Day, everyone. Bruins vs. Panthers tonight. A good team for the Bruins to play against to bounce back from that awful third period meltdown against the Penguins. We know this year's schedule is rough and fatigue is gonna hit them but they gotta find a way to fight through it, especially when they're up two goals to none toward the end of the game. Last Bs-Panthers game, Boston won 4-1. We're expecting more of the same tonight. Claude Julien called out the "first line" again this morning, saying they need to find a way to contribute. "They have to go back to their North-South game-those guys are better served when they play that way," he said. Right now that first line is just dead weight. All the offense is being generated by the "second" line and the Merlot line. That's 10 different ways of awful. Good thing those guys works out 'cause they're carrying the team this season. ...

Adam McQuaid Out Against Panthers, Joins Chris Kelly as Only Bruins Missing From Morning Skate

Adam McQuaid won’t be in the Bruins lineup when the Panthers invade TD Garden on Thursday night. The B’s defenseman did not join the team for skate, taking turns with strength coach John Whitesides instead. NESN’s Naoko Funayama tweeted that he’s “day-to-day.” Adam McQuaid is dealing with a minor injury. Not in lineup tonight vs Florida. Day-to-day. #Bruins— Naoko...

Claude Julien Passes Milt Schmidt on Bruins’ Wins List, But Doesn’t See Himself in Same Class as B’s Legend

BOSTON — The Bruins won an ugly game on Thursday night, and in the process, Claude Julien passed another B’s legend. In a tenure that hasn’t always been aesthetically pleasing or without its bumps in the roads, Julien continued his ascent up the Bruins’ all-time wins list. With Boston’s 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night, Julien passed Milt Schmidt in career...

Bruins Should Take Initiative Against Panthers, Set Foundation for Future Rivalry Thanks to Realignment (Video)

The Bruins and Panthers don’t have much of a history together, but that might not be the case for very long. After all, Florida is joining Boston in “Division C” next year because of the NHL’s realignment plan, and the two could very easily be seeing quite a bit of each other in the not-so-distant future. While the division in which the teams will battle hasn’t even been...

Chris Kelly out indefinitely with busted tibia

Chris Kelly is out for god knows how long. It was reported today that he has a broken tibia and is out indefinitely. Ouch. Here's the play for those who don't remember and/or love to watch knee on knee hits: From CSNNE: According to the Bruins, Kelly is out indefinitely. Those looking for a timetable might find it instructive that Kings center Jeff Carter...

After loss to the Peguins, Bruins need for offense becomes clear

The Boston Bruins have a strong grip on the second spot in the North East division, leading Ottawa by 7 points and trailing Montreal by only 1. Other than a few missteps by the defense, there has not been much to critique. Tyler Seguin seems to have found his game having scored 4 times in the past 4 games. Tuukka Rask has answered any questions that may have remained about his ability...

Bruins 4, Panthers 1

Tuukka Rask made 29 saves and Patrice Bergeron scored two goals to help the Boston Bruins beat the Florida Panthers 4-1 on Thursday. Boston won for the 10th time in 13 games and hasn't lost consecutive games in regulation since March 2012. Florida lost for the fifth consecutive time and has dropped eight of nine. Boston scored twice in the first to take a 2-0 lead. Zdeno Chara...

Bruins Blow Another Early Lead, Fall To Penguins. Should You Be Worried?

Penguins 3, Bruins 2 In a matchup of a few Eastern Conference favorites, the Bruins and Penguins had their first meeting of this condensed season on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. While the Bruins came out of the gate strong and put up two early goals in the first period, they wound up choking away another lead and falling on their face as the Penguins reeled off three unanswered tallies...

RECAP: Chokely Carmichael. BRUINS LOSE.

As soon as the game was over the excuses poured in. Yes, we're sure the Bruins were tired after playing 65+ minutes the previous night. Yes, we're sure the Penguins relentless attack didn't help the Bruins energy reserves. But seriously. They scored their two goals and then just sat back and watched. You CAN'T do that against the Penguins. You just can'...

Bruins Collapse In Pittsburgh, Leave With 3-2 Loss

Last season, the Bruins were the best third-period team in the league, but this collapse was the latest example of why that’s no longer true. One day they’re resilient. The next they’re, well, the victims of a team who decided to be resilient. This was one of those collapses that you could just see coming from a mile away. Like I said after Monday night’s game in Ottawa...

Canadiens, Blackhawks Emerge as Surprises While Panthers, Capitals Disappoint in First Half of NHL Season

With the Boston Bruins wrapping up their 24th game of the season on Tuesday, every team in the NHL has now reached or passed the halfway point of the 2013 NHL season. That means it’s time for a little reflection. Let’s have a look and see what teams have surprised us, what teams have disappointed us and what’s gone according to plan. The Canadiens and Blackhawks are both atop...

Panthers-Bruins Preview

The Boston Bruins have clearly played like one of the Eastern Conference's top teams, which is perhaps why their last result was so disappointing. A matchup at home Thursday night against the struggling Florida Panthers should provide Boston with a good opportunity to bounce back. The Bruins (17-4-3) won three in a row and nine of 11 prior to a 3-2 loss at Pittsburgh on Tuesday...

Bruins Beat Panthers 4-1

It wasn't the greatest win, but it was a win, and that is exactly what the Bruins needed after Tuesday's disaster. Behind the help of goals from Chara, Bergeron (2) and Thornton, and 29 saves on 30 shots for Tuukka Rask, the Bruins held off the Panthers 4-1.  The scoring started from captain Zdeno Chara on a slapper from the point. At the end of the first Bergeron found...

Keys To The Game Vs Florida

The last two times the teams faced off was back in February. The Bruins won 4-1. It was considered the calme before the storm of a rough scheduele ahead. So far it has proven true. The Bruins have lost Chris Kelly to injury, broken tibia, and now the already struggling 3rd line needs help. At first it seemed the Bruins would probably make a trade but now they have to. Kellys injury...

Capitals-Bruins Preview

The Boston Bruins may be eager to help keep the Washington Capitals out of the playoffs given what happened the last time the teams met in Massachusetts. Another overtime loss to the Capitals is even fresher in their minds, and they'll be out to avenge that defeat Saturday. Joel Ward stunned the Boston crowd with an overtime goal in Game 7 of a first-round playoff series last...
