The Nashville Predators visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. Joining the team in Raleigh will be trade deadline acquisitions Andrei Kostitsyn from the Montreal Canadiens and Paul Gaustad from the Buffalo Sabres.

Andrei is Sergei Kostitsyn’s older brother. The younger brother says he is excited to have Andrei join the team. Head Coach Barry Trotz says he will not split up the top line of Mike Fisher, Martin Erat and Kostitsyn in favor of having the brothers play together on the same line.

A likely second line for Nashville will be David Legwand centering Patric Hornqvist as well as Andrei.

Since the third line of Nick Spaling, Colin Wilson and Jordin Tootoo has played so well as of late, look for them to remain together which means Gaustad may play with Matt Halischuk and Gabriel Bourque. Brandon Yip and Craig Smith could be the healthy scratches. After being traded to Nashville, Gaustad says he hadn’t yet discussed with Trotz where he fit in but knew his penalty killing and face-off talents were a big part of why the Predators wanted to trade for his services.

Defenseman Ryan Ellis was also recalled from Milwaukee on Monday afternoon. Kevin Klein missed Monday night’s game and Jack Hillen took his spot. Look for Ellis to get into the lineup on Tuesday night.

Trotz says Predators starting goaltender Pekka Rinne will get a rare night off. Anders Lindback will be in goal Tuesday night. Lindback is 2-6-0 this season.

With the Predators 2-1 win over Los Angeles on Monday night, Nashville moves to within four points of both St. Louis and Detroit, who are tied with 85 points for the Central Division lead.

Carolina sits in 14th spot in the Eastern Conference, just one point ahead of last place Montreal. Coached by Kirk Muller, who started the year off as the head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals, the Hurricanes are losers of two straight games decided by the shootout.

Carolina is 5-1-4 in its last 10 games, with a 16-12-5 home record. While the Predators have a modest 6-5-3 record against the Eastern Conference this season, they boast a 3-1-0 mark against the Southeast Division.

Tuesday’s game is the second game of back-to-back contests. Nashville is 6-2-0, including Monday night’s results on the front end of back-to-back games, and are 3-4-0 on the back half this season.

Nashville plays Carolina twice this season and Tuesday night’s game is the second and final meeting of the season between the two clubs. Nashville has six straight wins against the Hurricans and have a 11-3-(1)-1 record in 14 all-time matchups against Carolina. Earlier this year on January 7th, the Predators scored four power-play goals in their 5-2 win over the Hurricanes.

The Predators don’t play again until Saturday night when they visit Florida to take on the Panthers.
