UMass Lowell will finish up before their winter break on a road trip to Orono, ME to battle the Maine Black Bears at Alfond Arena on Sunday afternoon.
After starting off slow, the River Hawks have won six straight games and 10 of their past 11 contests. Part of their six straight victories include a weekend two-game sweep of Notre Dame and a more recent win over Atlantic Hockey’s American International College.
Maine sits at .500 after 13 games this season (6-6-1), but has two big wins over Boston University and Boston College.
The Black Bears are 6-1-0 at Alfond Arena this season, after starting the year 4-0-0. Maine has also won their lone exhibition game at home this year as well.
UMass Lowell is 6-1-0 while on the road this season and have won their last five games away from the Tsongas Center after falling in their first road game against Quinnipiac.
Last season, UMass Lowell was 1-2-0 against the Black Bears in their three regular season meetings. However, the River Hawks managed a two-game sweep of Maine during the first round of the Hockey East playoffs on their way to winning the Hockey East Championship.
Overall, the River Hawks are 34-77-3 against the Black Bears and 18-41-1 at Maine home sites in their history.
Puck drops at 4:00 p.m. eastern and can be heard on ESPN Radio via WCAP 980 or the ESPN Radio App worldwide or watched live on Fox College Sports.
