I've seen all the Alex Ovechkin apologists today say that the principle point of contact for the hit on Dan Girardi last night was his shoulder. Well not according to this picture...Unless Girardi's shoulder is in his ear, this seems like a pretty clear cut head shot to me.So why hasn't Ovechkin heard from the league yet today?H/T to reader @Dgimbz.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at email@example.com.

John Tortorella's post-game press conference behavior never gets old. Not even sure yesterday's, following the Rangers' 3-2 loss to the Caps, was his shortest at 35 seconds start to finish.

In a conversation with Jeff Klein at the New York Times, John Tortorella discussed how Ryan Callahan became the Ranger organization's 26th captain..."Sometimes people allow the team to vote, but I didn't need to have the team vote. We did it as a coaching staff. But if the team voted it would have been the same thing. You've just got to be around him."...surprised...
It is one thing to prepare to defend the opposition's plan of attack. It is an entirely different challenge to defend that team's plan of attack when it is a carbon copy of your own. This is the mind-boggling predicament the New York Rangers currently find themselves in four games deep into the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
It was a pre-known fact that the Dale Hunter...

You knew it was eventually going to happen. Chris Kreider was going to make a rookie mistake and it was going to cost the Rangers. And that time was yesterday during the first period...To watch on YouTube, click here.Way to bail the kid out Hank. Sorry I had to.So how did John Tortorella react to the miscue? Did he give his young impressionable rookie a quick talking to, then a reassuring...
The 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs have been unpredictable from every aspect imaginable. That is, of course, with the exemption of one constant, which has been the despicable officiating and perplexing off-ice discipline that's taken control of series after series in this postseason, or at least attempted to.
So the display witnessed Saturday afternoon at the Verizon Center in...
Just when all hope appeared to be lost, along came a Ranger riding on a white steer. No, not that Ranger, but in this case it was Brad Richards rescuing the damsel in distress. In addition, since Richards did not want to be a Lone Ranger, he was joined shortly thereafter by Marc Staal, who gave the Rangers a 3-2 overtime win and 3-2 series lead heading back to Washington. Forgive...

from Dan Rosen of NHL.com, After addressing the media for all of 27 seconds and using only 15 words after losing 3-2 in Game 4 Saturday, Rangers coach John Tortorella was a bit more chatty Sunday at the team’s suburban training facility.
Tortorella spoke to the media for more than five minutes and handled 11 questions.
He talked about trying to get pucks through to the net against...

Alex Ovechkin and Henrik Lundqvist have never made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. One of them will this spring. But it’s getting awfully hard to tell which one. Ovechkin scored his second goal of the series and Lundqvist allowed three goals for just the fourth time in the postseason as the Washington Capitals squeaked out a 3-2 win Saturday over the New York Rangers to...
