While rookies Marc-Andre Bourdon and Kevin Marshall have filled in admirably for the last week, without defenseman Chris Pronger and Andreas Lilja for at least the next 4 weeks, will probably mean the Flyer’s will look to add a defenseman via trade or free agency. The Flyer’s need to acquire a defenseman who can replace [...]

It appears Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger has been suffering from more than a virus. The Flyers announced Monday that the towering blue liner will miss the next four weeks after undergoing left knee surgery Tuesday. The team had said Pronger was dealing with a virus, but did not mention that he was also trying to recover from an injured knee.
"The procedure will...
Yesterday's news about Chris Pronger needing arthroscopic knee surgery (this time on his left knee) could not have come at a worse time for the team.
In the short term, the club learned it will be without its captain and top defenseman for a month just as it is about to embark on it most grueling travel month of the season. Last year, the Flyers thrived without Pronger during...
So it was more than just a virus with Chris Pronger.
He needs his left knee cleaned out. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery on TUE. This is his second knee surgery as a Flyer.
He had RIGHT knee surgery in the summer of 2010. Same thing. Arthroscopic but it was more invasive than this procedure which the Flyers are calling a "minor" cleanup.
GM Paul Holmgren also...
The Flyers announced today that Chris Pronger will miss approximately four weeks following surgery on his left knee. Paul Holmgren said on Friday that, “We’re not sure what it is” with regards to the “virus” that was plaguing him for over a week, but obviously he wasn’t telling the whole truth.
This is a huge blow [...]
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger will have surgery on his left knee today and will miss a month. It has been a tough season for Pronger, Philadelphia's captain, who also missed six games with an eye injury. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Peter DeLuca. "Any time a player has surgery, there's concern, whether he's an older player like Chris or a younger player.
Yesterday's blog discussed at length my take on the short-term and long-range implications of Chris Pronger's impending month-long absence from the lineup on the heels of missing several games with a virus (which was a legitimate illness and not in and of itself a public cover for his ailing knee, according to reliable sources).
Today, we'll finish up the November...
The Flyers are going to need to continue winning without their captain on the ice for the next month or so.
Defenseman Chris Pronger is set to have loose bodies removed from his left knee on Tuesday, the team announced Monday.
“Obviously Chris has played a long time,” said general manager Paul Holmgren. “This has been an issue probably for the last month or so for him that...

WESTMINSTER, Calif. - Seems every time we talk to a Flyer we find out something new about their health status.
In recent weeks, we found that Matt Read definitely had a concussion at the start of November and missed three games; we found that while Chris Pronger had a virus last week, it was really his left knee that was keeping him out of the lineup.
And today, goalie Ilya...
Oh, the life a Philadelphia sports fan. We will be discussing the following topics on today's show and much more.
-Chris Pronger is out indefinitely.
-The Eagles are awful (even their coaches are fighting).
-The Sixers have a player who only plays basketball because it's his job. Great!

In a Monday chock full of NHL news, the Philadelphia Flyers evidently didn’t want to feel left out.
After coaches in Washington and Carolina were fired and their replacements named, Philly GM Paul Holmgren had some news of his own to deliver. No, it was nothing to do with their coach. Peter Laviolette has one of the safest...
A day after losing Chris Pronger to knee surgery, the Flyers have lost another player- this time to the Carolina Hurricanes.
According to Tim Panaccio of Comcast Sports Net, the Hurricanes have claimed Nodl off of waivers.
Nodl appeared in 12 games for the Flyers, recording only 1 assist and a +/- of -1.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced earlier today that Chris Pronger will undergo surgery on his left knee on Tuesday.
The injury, which was kept quiet by the Flyers is the most recent on a laundry list of problems with Pronger, but it didn’t start out that way for the Flyers’ defenseman.
In his first season in the...
