The Philadelphia Flyers aren't expecting captain Chris Pronger to return in the near future. Concussion symptoms have sidelined Pronger since November 2011. And though he reported for the first day of training camp on Sunday, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Pronger was scheduled to see his doctor. When does Holmgren expect Pronger to be able to play again? "Down the road? I guess you could say slight chance," Holmgren said in an NHL.com report. "But I'd probably classify it as highly unlikely. Nothing's changed."

The Philadelphia Flyers come into the season with some question marks, as do all teams, but one of the things I’d like them to improve upon is the scoring production from the defense. Last season the Flyers scored 264 goals […]

The Flyers have moved John Paddock from asst. GM to assistant coach.
He will work out of the press as the club's defensive eye in the sky.
Paddock has been on the ice two days in camp, working with players instead of being in the press box. That was the clue something was going on.
