Well, it has been a busy day in Rangerland, with roster cuts made, a potential season-ending surgery and a tryout signing. Where to begin?
Let’s start with the report today by Larry Brooks of the New York Post which suggests that Vaclav Prospal’s injured knee isn’t healing as quickly as hoped and may even require surgery which could end the Czech forward’s season before it even starts. Prospal is a great asset for the Rangers, as he can play any forward position, granting versatility to the roster. He is at ease with playing on a line with Marian Gaborik, and the two show natural chemistry together. He is a solid point-producer who plays with more grit than given credit for. Replacing him won’t be easy!
However, filling the roster spot that Vinny would have had didn’t take long. The Rangers have officially signed professional tryout experiment Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year, $1M deal. Sure, “Feds” won’t replace the offence...
