For as much as we love sitting through highlight-reels of beautiful goals, the goaltenders also provide us with plenty of "Holy [Gretzky]" moments during a hockey season.
There were 72,154 shots taken on NHL goaltenders last season and over 31,000 shots through three months of the 2011-12 campaign. Some of those shots go in the net, while others are denied the opportunity because a goaltender makes a split-second decision and their timing is perfect in order to keep the puck from going by them.
