TEAMS: Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, Chicago Blackhawks
The top five stories from Bloggers’ Row and beyond for April 4.
1. Last night, the Predators reached the 100-point plateau for the fourth time in franchise history with their 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. Amanda DiPaolo of Inside Smashville caught up with Nashville’s lone goal scorer Gabriel Bourque after the game, Hockey Night in Nashville’s Robby Stanley talked to Craig Smith about the fact that the ice seemed a little bit off on the night, and Smashville 24/7′s Ryan Porth talked to Nick Spaling, who had the assist on Bourque’s goal.
2. Seth Lake and Ryan Porth each have their morning after columns this morning. By my calculations, Seth’s clocks in at over 1,150 words, while Ryan’s is at over 800. Both of these gentlemen found plenty to write about from a game that was for the most part a defensive stalemate.
3. Preds On The Glass’ Buddy Oakes wrote a guest column at AllHabs.net inviting Montreal fans to hop on the Predators bandwagon for the playoffs. Buddy makes the obvious argument that the Predators have four former Habs in Hal Gill, Francis Bouillon and the Kostitsyn brothers, plus Quebec Rempart legend Alexander Radulov. However, Buddy also focuses on Predator qualities such as the fact that basically any player on any given night can put the puck in the net.
4. Before yesterday’s game, Ryan Porth caught up with the oft-scratched Colin Wilson to discuss the why he is being held out of the lineup and what he is doing to improve to get back into the lineup. Wilson was held out of most of the playoffs last season and seemingly made several improvements to his game at the beginning of this season. However, per Ryan’s story, it appears that Trotz is again frustrated with Wilson’s effort and Wilson is frustrated with not being able to play.
5. The AHL doled out suspensions for Milwaukee’s bench-clearing brawl on Sunday and Admirals Roundtable has the story. Michael Latta was suspended for 3 games for leaving the penalty box, while Jeremy Smith was suspended for 1…presumably because he threw the first punch. Rockford player Rob Flick, who instigated the incident, was given the same 3 game suspension as Latta. With Pekka Rinne’s illness, this creates an interesting situation for the Admirals, as Chet Pickard may not be available to join the team to back up Atte Engren.
