The Flyers have added one veteran on a Professional Try Out (PTO) contract, but it’s not the guy many expected.
The Flyers were expected to bring in winger Simon Gagne to challenge for a spot while they sorted out their salary cap issues. Gagne is a popular player, who spent 10 seasons with the Flyers before being traded to Tampa Bay in a cost cutting move in the summer of 2010. After a season with the Lightning, Gagne moved to Los Angeles, where he’d help the Kings to the 2012 Stanley Cup. He was traded back to the Flyers last season, and was played primarily in a 3rd line role for Philadelphia.
