from Elliotte Friedman of CBC,
- Blogged Saturday about the NHL's clumsy attempt to discredit NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr. I received a great deal of feedback, much more than I usually get, from people across the league feeling he "deserved" it because he has instructed the players to "demonize" NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
- Bettman hasn't exactly shown distinguished leadership, but there are a lot of people concerned about the toll this is taking on his health.
- Sounds like the Red Wings want either Nyquist or Swiss import Damien Brunner to aggressively grab that final (top 6) spot. Brunner and Zetterberg are lighting it up together in Switzerland, but scoring goals overseas is a much different proposition than scoring them in the NHL. They'll want to see who will want to go to the tougher areas and who'll be willing to shoot the puck. If neither impresses, Dan Cleary or Todd Bertuzzi probably go there.

Comedian Lenny Clarke was not pulling any punches in his rant against Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr on NESN Daily.
He called the commissioner of the NHL and the executive director of the NHLPA “morons,” and said that they needed to get the game back on the ice. Clarke certainly echoed the feelings of many hockey fans when he said he wanted to get the NHL players back home from...

As quickly as NHL labor negotiations got going again, they came to a screeching halt. Now there is no telling when the league and the players will return to the bargaining table.
After a one-day break following a series of formal discussions this week, the sides got back to business on Sunday. Less than 90 minutes after talks solely about player-contract issues started, they were...
