Puustinen Signs One-Year Deal With Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Valtteri Puustinen.

It is a two-year deal worth $775,000 if/when he plays in the NHL and $385,000 when he is in the American Hockey League.

Puustinen, a seventh-round draft choice in 2019, was scheduled to be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights this summer.

He is 24 and had 24 goals and 35 assists in 72 games with the Penguins’ AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre in 2022-23. His 59 points led the team.

Puustinen, who is 5- foot-9, 183 pounds, has appeared in one NHL game, recording an assist.
