A lot of people out there seem to think I was ripping on poor Matt Hunwick for his play last night. Not the case. As I thought I made clear, the criticism had more to do with playing him out of place, at forward. Not his fault there. I also said, in the blog, that I was hoping to have a question answered as to why the Avs couldn’t/didn’t get a forward in the lineup last night instead of Hunwick. Question answered: Because, the Avs say, Paul Stastny wasn’t officially put on IR until yesterday around 5 p.m. That’s when the roster spot opened up for a potential callup from Lake Erie. So, while technically Brad Malone could have still played against the Flames, it was too late to get him there based on the time of the Stastny IR placement. Kevin Porter, even though he’s suspended, still is an active roster member and has to count against the cap. The overall point I was trying to make was: playing Hunwick at forward is never going to cut it. But I guess, b...
