Tahir “Tie” Domi is known, for good reason, as one of the most famous enforcers in NHL history. Starting with the Toronto Maple Leafs’ minor league affiliate, the Newmarket Saints, his career showed promise in 1989 after he logged 25 points in 57 games. After being traded to the New York Rangers and splitting time between the NHL and AHL, Domi completed his first full season in the big leagues in the 1991-1992 season. After shuffling to the Winnipeg Jets and then back to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Domi found his home in the NHL for his career. Among many incidents in his NHL career, Domi is infamous for his Todd Bertuzzi-like cheap shot on Ulf Samuelsson of the Rangers in 1995. He was suspended for eight games after knocking Samuelsson unconscious. In 2000, Domi made headlines again after provoking a Flyers fan by spraying a water bottle on him. The fan then fell into the penalty box after the glass gave out, earning Domi the maximum fine of $1,000. After hanging up the skates in 2006, Domi placed himself in rare statistical territory. In 1,020 career games, Domi earned 3,515 penalty minutes, good enough for the third spot on the all- time list. He also notched 104 goals and 125 assists. Domi proudly holds the record for most penalty minutes as a Maple Leaf as well. After retiring, Domi attempted to work his way into the broadcast booth, but a stint with TSN lasted only a month. Recently the Domi name is making its way back into the sports world thanks to the success of his son, Max Domi. Max was drafted in the 2013 NHL draft in the first round, twelfth overall, by the Phoenix Coyotes. -Miller
