As per TSN, the New York Rangers have officially acquired defenseman Bryan McCabe from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Tim Kennedy and a third-round draft pick in 2011. The 35-year-old blue-liner adds a veteran presence to a rather young defensive corps and will be an asset to the team if/when they make the playoffs in a couple of months. Personally, I don't have a problem with the trade itself because the Rangers did not have to mortgage their future in order to go through with it, however there is going to be an odd-man out on defense for the remainder of the season. That, though, is up to coach John Tortorella. As for Kennedy, I am happy he was traded because he was reportedly miserable down in Connecticut (AHL). The Blueshirts didn't have much use for him anyway.More on McCabe later, but have at it the comments folks. What do you think of the deal?
