Found November 21, 2011 on Rangers Report:
Their legs didn’t move Saturday and they had Sunday off. Today the Rangers go back to work on this next three-day hiatus. Then they play three games in less than four days starting Wednesday in Sunrise. I’m working on a story for next week, so I’m going to try to get over there this morning. Will update from there. Hopefully with some audio, etc.

Has Michael Del Zotto Been Overhyped?

I'll start by saying that 21-year-old defenseman Michael Del Zotto has neither been as good as his rookie season nor as bad as his sophomore season so far this year. He's been somewhere in the middle through 17 games, and due to inconsistency from night to night, has also been very difficult to judge. At times  he's been serviceable and has shown signs of regaining...

Guest Post: Is Brad Richards Worth It?

As we attempt to give back to our awesome followers here, we are giving the opportunity to write guest posts that we will post on Sundays. In the first of these guest posts, poster Brian looks at how we can judge if Brad Richards and Mike Rupp were worth signing this offseason. There is a question every market will pose when their team has sprung an extra buck to add someone with...

Update: Marc Staal Is Riding The Stationary Bike

According to Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, New York Rangers defensemen Marc Staal has started to ride a stationary bicycle. Matheson indicates that Staal is “weeks away” from returning.  John Jeansonne of Newsday also wrote yesterday that there is no update on Staal. It was reported earlier in the week by Larry Brooks of [...]

Photoshop The Rangers: Henrik Lundqvist Has A HUGE Glove This Season

… I knew Lundqvist’s glove was big this season but this takes the cake!  Photo courtesy of Photoshop The Rangers

Video: Tortorella Discusses Loss to Canadiens

I normally do not post John Tortorella's postgame comments here on the blog, but last night I thought the coach did a fantastic job of summing up his team's 4-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. For once, I agreed with everything the coach said, so I found this one worth posting...   I feel like the fans are going a little overboard with the drama after...

Practice Notes: Richards, Dubi Sit; Pushups; & New Lines

According to Andrew Gross, Brad Richards sat out today's practice with what is being called a maintenance day, while Brandon Dubinsky also missed the morning session with the flu.During practice, John Tortorella had the team do push-ups while yelling at them about having no rebound shots Saturday night in Montreal (via Katie Strang).Gross adds that a point of emphasis during...

Postgame: Rangers' Streak Ends in 4-0 Loss to Habs

All good things come to an end at some point, but it's that much more frustrating when it ends without much of a fight. The New York Rangers did not contest the Montreal Canadiens tonight when defending their seven-game winning streak, and also missed out on an opportunity to make franchise history. There are 101 reasons you can come up with for tonight's loss, but the bottom...

What If The Rangers Didn’t Draft Jessiman?

Eight years ago, the Rangers selected Hugh Jessiman with the 12th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The Rangers drafted him over such notables as Dustin Brown, Zach Parise, Brent Seabrook, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Mike Richards, and Corey Perry. Everyone knows how that turned out, and fans are still complaining about it eight years later. It’s about time to look at what...

Tortorella post-practice

Don’t have a lot of interviews for you today because A) I spent a lot of time working on a story I’m doing next week and B) What else is there for the boys to say after that Montreal game and a day off? For the same reason, John Tortorella’s post-practice press conference was short, because there weren’t many questions to be asked. Brad Richards (maintenance day) and...

Quick Practice Notes

It is a bit of a slow day here in Rangerland, but there were some tidbits of information from practice to chat about, courtesy of Andrew Gross. First, Brandon Dubinsky and Brad Richards sat out of practice today. As per Gross, Dubinsky was sick and Richards required a maintenance day. These are common occurence, and shouldn’t really be a cause for alarm. Hockey players need days...

90 Votes for Girardi

The NHL usually releases the results of All Star voting every Tuesday so what worked real well last year was to get a big vote out on Mondays. So what I'm asking everyone to do is vote at least 90 times for Dan Girardi today. The best way to get around the 30 vote limit using the online ballot is to create numerous NHL profiles using multiple e-mail accounts. The easiest way to...

The Rangers, The Salary Cap and the Fear of the Next CBA

It’s a bit too early, especially with this current squad that is on its way to some serious success (!) but I thought I’d have a brief look at next year’s cap situation for your New York Rangers. As of now, there are thirteen players signed for next season with a total cap hit of [...]
